DPMM FC ended a four-match unbeaten run but still fell short of a victory following a goalless stalemate against Garena Young Lions in the Great Eastern-Hyundai S League at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore last night.
The hosts won a corner from the right side in the third minute but Zeljko Savic could not make the opportunity count after guiding his header off the mark.
The hosts had a decent chance to put their noses in front but an unmarked combative midfielder Muhaimin Suhaimi nodded wide Ryan Syaffiq’s cross.
Brazilian striker Rafael Ramazotti latched on to a long ball but poked straight at goalkeeper Hairul Syirhan.
The Young Lions goalkeeper then had to keep out a fierce shot by DPMM FC midfield man Hendra Azam.
The visitors attempted a route on goal via a set piece but Hendra Azam’s free-kick was glanced wide by Ramazotti.
The DPMM FC frontman tried a spectacular effort but it was eventually blocked from a corner.
Ramazotti’s attacking team-mate Billy Mehmet had a goal chalked off for offside.
Syaffiq cuts in from the left but his shot whistled just over the bar.
Helmi Zambin came close for DPMM FC after firing a shot at the edge of the box but fortunately for the hosts it flew wide as Hairul looked beaten.
The Young Lions missed a golden opportunity after Syahrul Sazali fluffed his lines from point blank range leaving Wardun Yussof a relieved figure after his initial error.
Azwan Ali chipped past Hairul but the goalkeeper was relieved to see Illyas Lee Taufiq came to his aid as the defender cleared the ball off the line.
The visitors came close when Azwan Ali’s shot was deflected off the bar by Hairul before Mehmet headed over from the ensuing corner.
Former Tampines Rovers man Mehmet knocked down a corner but Rosmin skies his effort wide.
DPMM FC missed out a great chance to get the winner when Azwan struck his shot wide after meeting Rosmin’s corner.
Rosmin sneaked in unmarked to get the end of substitute Nurikhwan Othman cross but poked over instead.
