HAJI Tuah bin Sadim and his wife Hajah Zaliha binti Haji Metusim won a brand new Mazda2 worth more than $20,000 after picking the right key to start the car’s engine during the Sosro Fruit Tea grand lucky draw ceremony yesterday at Giant Hypermart.
Eighty-year-old Haji Tuah along with the other two finalists Norwardi bin Ariffin and Pengiran Harbi bin Pengiran Hamdan tried their best to pick the right keys from the box in the two rounds they were provided with, but to no avail.
It was at this point that the organiser suggested allowing the contestants’ next of kin to try their luck in picking the keys. So up stepped Hajah Zaliha to her husband’s rescue, sinking her hand into the box and picking out a key.
Tears of joy streamed down from her face upon hearing the sound of the car engine after turning the key in the ignition.
Norwardi, meanwhile, walked away with an iPhone 7 Plus, while Pengiran Harbi won himself an iPhone 7.
Commenting on his win, Haji Tuah said, “I felt blessed and overjoyed after winning the grand prize of a new car. Thanks to my wife who managed to pick the right key to the car.”
He added, “The car comes in handy because our current car is frequently encountering problems and needs to be repaired all the time.”
Asked about Sosro Fruit Tea, Hajah Zaliha replied, “We love to drink the fruit tea. We buy the drinks every month.”
The couple, who are retired public works department personnel, also thanked Syarikat Rajamas Bersama – the distributor of Sosro Fruit Tea in Brunei.
A total of 11 winners received prizes at the ceremony.
Alan Lau, General Manager of Syarikat Rajamas Bersama, presented the prizes to the winners.
Lau said, “The response from the public on the promotion which started from October 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017 was overwhelming. We received more than 30,000 entries.”
He added that Sosro Fruit Tea has been in the Bruneian market for more than 10 years and has proved very popular among the local community.
