A TOTAL of 45 graduates attended a drug awareness talk on the second day of their Civic Village programme yesterday, organised by the Information Department under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), through its Nationhood Unit, Nationhood and Community Division.
The talk was conducted by Wasulhana binti Haji Sudin, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer, on the topic of ‘Bahaya Dadah dan Sindeket Dadah Antarabangsa’ (The Dangers of Drugs and International Drug Syndicates), under the auspices of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the NCB.
In the afternoon, the participants were taken on a tour of Syarikat Eco Nadi Agrobiz, a local farm that produces chillies for the domestic market.
One of the participants, Dayangku Ariana Hafawati binti Pengiran Hamzah Faizal, a graduate from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), told the Bulletin that she joined the programme in hopes of gaining more knowledge, meeting new friends and broadening her horizons.
Dayangku Ariana hoped that the programme would help boost their sense of self-development, in preparing them for the employment market.
Throughout the five-day Civil Village programme, the participants will be staying at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex where they are required to be actively involved in briefings, dialogue sessions, group brainstorming, team activities, sports and leisure, religious and charity events, and visits.
The main objective of the programme is to provide a platform for the graduates in preparing themselves as competitive individuals, capable of meeting any future challenges and opportunities in the real world.
All 45 participants are graduates from various institutions in the United Kingdom, Australia, Egypt and Malaysia; and also from local institutions such as UBD, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).
