IN CONJUNCTION with the National Family Day Celebration, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Datu Seri Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof participated mass Subuh prayer, followed by recitation of Surah Al-Waqiah and Kuliah Subuh at the Kampong Sungai Teraban Mosque yesterday.
The minister was the event’s guest of honour and other attendees included Legislative Council (LegCo) members, YB Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, the Penghulu of Mukim Liang, and YB Hanapi bin Mohd Siput, Acting Penghulu of Mukim Labi 1, as well as residents from the mosque’s surrounding areas.
The event, part of an initiative by the SUTERA Association’s committee members, was held with the aim of encouraging the residents to visit the mosque during prayer times.
In addition to mass prayers, a Kuliah (lecture) was also held for the attendees in the early hours.

It was conducted by Dr Ustaz Zulkipli bin Haji Zakaria, a lecturer and the Dean of Education Faculty for Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan.
In his lecture, he touched on various topics relating to the importance of Subuh prayer as a test of an individual’s faith in the Islamic religion.
The event, which concluded with a group photo session with all the attendees, was the first of its kind to be organised by SUTERA Association and it is hoped that more of such events will be held in the future.
