WILLIAM Lin, the new representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam, touched down in the Sultanate yesterday afternoon.
The 62-year-old will be taking over duties from outgoing representative Jason CH Wan, whose tenure ended in the middle of this month.
Upon arrival at the Brunei International Airport, Lin was welcomed by Richard Chuang Hsi Shan, President of the Taiwan Business Association in Brunei Darussalam, association members and Taiwan Graduates Association members.
Speaking to the Bulletin, Lin said, “I hope to boost economic as well as trade ties between Taiwan and Brunei Darussalam. I would also like to look at expanding people-to-people exchange between your country and Taiwan.
“I am excited to be here and I would like to thank members from both associations for the warm welcome,” he added.
Lin had been the Taiwan Deputy Representative to Australia for almost four years.
