THE Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) yesterday held its fifth At-Tabarru’ Bil Khairat programme at Kampong Rimba Gadong, involving students of Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Campuses.
Islamic Studies Department Acting Director Ustazah Hajijah binti Haji Moktal attended as the guest of honour.
Organised by the Technical and Vocational Unit of the Islamic Religious Section, Islamic Studies Department under MoRA, the programme this year focuses on two brothers – Muhammad Marzuqi bin Abdullah, 23, and Muhammad Rafie bin Roslan, 19, who are students of the IBTE Mechanical Campus in the field of ISQ 6/Rigger.
Their father, Roslan bin Haji Awang Besar, passed away from tuberculosis in October 2016, while their mother, Nurizzah binti Abdullah, is a Filipino convert who works as a temporary cleaner at their late father’s place of work, drawing a $300 salary.
The two students have an 18-year-old sister, Nuryasmin binti Roslan, who recently completed her ‘O’ Level examinations.
The event began with a Khatam ceremony, followed by the recitation of Doa Khatam and Doa Tahlil.
The siblings received their donations from the guests of honour as well as representatives from the four campuses under IBTE Central and three campuses under IBTE Satellite.
The programme aims to expose students to community or volunteering services to those in need, and enlivening the holy month of Ramadhan by conducting spiritual activities, among others.
