A DELEGATION from Brunei Darussalam departed for Dubai, United Arab Emirates yesterday to participate in the 21st International Al-Quran Memorisation Competition, which will continue until June 15.
Present to see the delegation off at the Brunei International Airport was Haji Idris bin Haji Aji, Head of the Islamic Syiar Development Division.
The delegation comprised Awangku Muhammad Abdul Qadir bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim, who will be participating in the competition, accompanied by Ustaz Muhammad Nur Hanis bin Ismail, as the Delegation Manager.
Awangku Muhammad Abdul Qadir, a student from Institut Tahfiz Al-Qur’an Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, told the Bulletin he had just completed his Diploma in Tahfiz and Qiraat and this was his first time participating in an international competition.
“I have been preparing for this competition for two months. In one day, I would recite five Juzuks from the Al-Quran, which took five to six hours a day.
“In the competition, we will be given three questions and we will be reciting for 15-30 minutes. Insya Allah, I will try my best in this competition,” he said.
