A RELIGIOUS gathering and handing out of Zakat organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs were held at the Kampong Sungai Teraban Mosque recently.
Present at the event was guest of honour Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.
Also present were YB Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, Legislative Council Member and Penghulu of Mukim Liang; and Haji Harris bin Othman, Belait District Officer.
The event, which saw more than 250 people attending, started with mass Asar prayer led by Imam Haji Omarali bin Haji Md Husain, Imam of Kampong Sungai Teraban Mosque.
It continued with the handout of Zakat to recipients by the guest of honour.

In total, $10,725 were divided among 20 family representatives, each receiving $300, and 27 individuals, each receiving $175. It is hoped the donations will lessen the burden of the recipients.
This was followed with the recitation of Al-Quran verses, Tahlil and Doa Selamat.
The event concluded with the breaking of fast and mass Maghrib prayer.
More religious gatherings are scheduled to take place in other parts of Belait District in the coming weeks.
