THE Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association through the Cubs Scout section recently held a joint exercise and test to earn the Bronze Arrow Badge for members of the Tunas Scouts.
More than 50 members of the Tunas Scouts from Orang Kaya Besar Imas Subok Primary School, Kg Mata-Mata Primary School, Tungku Primary School and Stella’s School took part.
The joint exercise and test was divided into two sessions. In the first session, participants were briefed on the association and its leadership.
The Tunas Scouts members learnt that the Scout Patron position is held by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam; the Chief Scout is His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Dato Paduka Haji Idris bin Haji Abas as the president and Haji Awang Badar bin Haji Awang Ali is the Scout Chief Commissioner.

The session also helped the Tunas Scouts members familiarise with the national flag, the royal family, the national emblems and the national anthem.
The first aid session which followed touched on hygiene, nursing light injury, and making a sling bandange.
The scout members were also taught about the flora and fauna of Brunei Darussalam.
The second exercise session covered static parade order, Scout Woodcraft signs, Reef knot as well as exploration. The participants also learnt about the Scout Promise and Scout laws.
At the end of the exercise session, Tunas Scouts had an oral test before being awarded the Bronze Arrow Badge.
On hand to present the badges was Chief Executive Officer of the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association, Haji Mohd Zali bin Haji Arsad.
