THE Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque Takmir Committee members yesterday held a donation handover ceremony for 120 orphans from Kampong Sengkurong ‘A’, Kampong Sengkurong ‘B’ and Kampong Tanjung Nangka at the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Kampong Sengkurong.
The guest of honour, YB Pehin Orang Kaya Putera Maharaja Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Ghani bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Dewa Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahim, member of the Legislative Council, presented donations to the recipients.
Haji Musa bin Haji Tahir, Penghulu of Mukim Sengkurong; Haji Abdullah Hanif bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Dinda Haji Saman, Village Head of Kampong Sengkurong ‘A’; and Haji Lamat bin Nawang, Village Head of Kampong Tanjung Nangka were also present.
The event is an annual activity conducted by the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque Takmir Committee where this year saw donations to 73 orphans from Kampong Sengkurong ‘A’, 24 orphans from Kampong Sengkurong ‘B’, and 23 orphans from Kampong Tanjung Nangka.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a welcoming speech by Imam Haji Hamdini bin Haji Garif, Chairman of the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque Takmir Committee, which was proceeded with the donation handover by the guest of honour.
A Tahlil and Doa Arwah recitation was also conducted followed by a mass Maghrib prayer and Sungkai with the orphans and those present.
