COMMUNITIES in the Mukim Berakas A and Berakas B areas can expect one of the Ministry of Health’s latest additions of services and facilities from May 16 with the launching of the Berakas Health Centre located in Lambak Kanan.
Following its foundation laying ceremony in 2014 under the 10th National Development Plan, the new purpose-built structure located at Zone 1 of RPN Lambak Kanan, Jalan 10 Selatan will house a number of additional services including x-ray and emergency services, a wellness clinic, rehabilitation services as well as a mental health unit on top of, among others, primary healthcare, women and children services, health screening and a vaccination centre.
The three-storey structure, considered the biggest health centre in the Sultanate, is built on a 4.45 hectare site worth $14 million to cater to the increasing population especially in Mukim Berakas, that will see the consolidation of facilities in Anggerek Desa in Berakas A and Sungai Hanching in Berakas B.
The ministry shared with the Weekend Bulletin that the new centre seeks to provide the best customer experience, as a one-stop health centre that actively engages the community while also providing more services and facilities that were not previously available in most healthcare centres.
“It adopts the appointment system where the public will be given a time slot to see the doctor,” which will allow patients to better manage their time and arrive at their leisure rather than having to wait long hours and not knowing when it is time to see their healthcare practitioner.
Customers, or patients, are advised to either call or visit the health centre for an appointment where they will be given the earlier, or most convenient, time slot on the day itself where a trained staff will attend to the patient who will then screen each one before making the appointment.
Only one appointment is given per patient, who will need to arrive at the facility at least half an hour before the set appointment. Patients who are unable to arrive on time or are late will be given another time slot by way of allowing other patients who have already booked their slot to meet with the doctor. All existing appointments from Berakas A and B will automatically be transferred to the centre.
The centre, it was added, will also be managed differently that will focus on providing the best customer experience compared to business as usual. At the heart of this latest addition, are doctors and staff who make up a comprehensive team that makes client care, client comfort and client safety their priority. Here, they seek to communicate with their clients better than before to offer patients the best delivery of care.
The building was constructed on the foundation to offer more to the public which takes into consideration conducive walkways, comfortable waiting areas and added facilities which also include breast feeding rooms to facilitate comfort for mothers and as a compliment to the facility’s women and children services.
Additionally, parking spaces, as part of the health centre’s construction, can accommodate over 100 cars and will also have a designated bus stop, with a cafe also available and other complimenting facilities including a surau.
Divided into several areas based on services, the centre also has an attached emergency bay wing where ambulance services will be made available, making emergency care services accessible and convenient. Other additional services, such as x-rays, are also hoped to reduce congestion and waiting time in other healthcare facilities such as those located at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital in the capital.
