BANK Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) recently sent off its first BIBD Advocating Life-long Learning for an Aspiring Future (ALAF) scholar to continue her studies at the prestigious University of Al-Azhar, Egypt.
Norhafikah binti Haji Bakri will be pursuing her undergraduate studies in the field of Syariah Islamiah for four years.
Haji Minorhadi bin Haji Mirhassan, BIBD Head of Government Relations and Special Projects, commented, “We are extremely proud of Norhafikah for her achievements and wish her the best in her future studies. Alhamdulillah, BIBD has been granted the opportunity to be part of her journey to achieve her life-long ambitions, and we look forward to the successes of more students from the current and upcoming batches of the ALAF programme, Insya Allah.”
Norhafikah, a student under the BIBD ALAF programme scholarship, is the programme’s first student to continue her studies beyond the secondary level and also the first to be doing it overseas.
The BIBD ALAF programme currently supports the development of more than 140 students. The programme is supported by collaboration from both the public and private spheres, which include BIBD’s own charity expeditions for ALAF, contributions from corporate agencies, as well as the public.
The programme provides students provisions for school and tuition fees, educational material and welfare, as well as mentoring and counselling necessities.
