STANDARD Chartered Bank (SCB) employees presented donations to 10 underprivileged families during its Ramadhan charity drive recently.
The annual Standard Chartered Bank Ramadhan Charity Drive 2017, was organised by the Standard Chartered Bank Recreation Club (SCBRC) where bank employees volunteer to deliver household items to low-income families.
Over 20 volunteers from the bank including Anirvan Dastidar, CEO of Standard Chartered and other members of the Country Management Team, delivered an assortment of household items including rice, pillows, canned food, baby milk powder and PowerKads among other items.
Anirvan Dastidar said, “We are blessed to be able to lend some assistance to those in our community who are underprivileged. At Standard Chartered, our people are made up of Bruneians who genuinely care about their community. By conducting the activity, we wanted to bring some festive cheer to these families before the Raya period. I am pleased to participate in this charity drive and contribute towards our community in Brunei.”
SCB is one of the few organisations that actively encourage its employees to take time off work to engage in charity activities by providing three days of employee volunteering leave in addition to their annual leave.
With over 89,000 employees in 70 different markets, SCB believes that the volunteering initiatives will have a significant positive impact across its global footprint.
