BRUNEI Darussalam and Singapore need to further strengthen cooperation in combating dynamic security threats.
This observation was made during a bilateral meeting between the Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamdan bin Haji Abu Bakar and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Republic of Singapore, Leo Yip, yesterday.
During the courtesy call held at the PMO Building in Jalan Perdana Menteri, both sides discussed matters pertaining to the threats of cross-border crimes involving terrorism, radical and extremist activities and other transnational crimes and agreed that closer cooperation is needed to counter the issue.
Both sides also expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation that has been established by the two countries to further strengthen relationship between senior officers from Brunei Darussalam and Singapore, especially in cooperation addressing security and enforcement issues that stems from mutual understanding through the signing of the Letter of Intent between the Prime Minister’s Office (Security and Enforcement) Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Republic of Singapore dated September 10, 2014.
Also present at the courtesy call was the Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) at the PMO, Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Mohd Shah Al-Islam, as well as heads of department and senior officers at the Prime Minister’s Office and its departments.
