A FULL dress rehearsal for the Junjung Ziarah ceremony of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam with subjects and residents in the Tutong District was held yesterday.
Present to witness the rehearsal was Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs as Chairman of the National Executive Committee for the 71st birthday celebrations of His Majesty.
This year’s Junjung Ziarah will feature a colourful performance titled ‘Raja Bijaksana, Negara Makmur, Rakyat Sejahtera’ – meaning “a benevolent king, prosperous nation and flourishing citizens”.
According to the Tutong District Office, the special performance will involve a total of 471 people comprising students from secondary and primary schools in the Tutong District, local ethnic communities, members of the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils, members of local youths and Tutong District Volunteers.
The special performances are meant to portray responsible youths who possess vision, a progressive mindset, as well as a strong spirit of teamwork.
They are also meant to show the country’s emphasis of always putting the conservation of culture and heritage, and maintaining unity and solidarity among the people at the forefront in its national development plans – this falls in line with the goals of the Brunei Vision 2035.
The performances will also feature the singing of patriotic songs, including the “Gema Perpaduan Rakyat” – a song specially chosen for this year’s Tutong District Junjung Ziarah.
Others present at the rehearsal were Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs; and deputy permanent secretaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
