Birthday wishes to His Majesty

WORLD leaders and diplomats yesterday sent their best wishes and congratulatory messages to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on the occasion of His Majesty’s 71st birthday.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland said, “It gives me great pleasure to extend to Your Majesty my congratulations on the occasion of your 71st birthday, together with my continued best wishes for the people of Brunei Darussalam.”

Pranab Mukherjee, President of the Republic of India said, “On behalf of the Government, the people of India and my own behalf, I am extremely pleased to extend to Your Majesty our warm greetings and felicitations on the happy occasion of Your Majesty’s 71st birthday.

“We wish Your Majesty success in realising the aspirations of the friendly people of Brunei Darussalam. We are confident that the bilateral relations between our two friendly countries would continue to be strengthened for the benefit of our two peoples in the years to come.

“Please accept, Your Majesty, my best wishes for Your Majesty’s personal health and happiness as well as for the continued well-being and prosperity of the friendly people of Brunei Darussalam.

“Please accept, Your Majesty, the assurance of my highest consideration.”

Nicola Rosenblum, High Commissioner of Australia to Brunei Darussalam said, “I would like to take this opportunity to extend to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, my sincerest best wishes on the occasion of His Majesty’s 71st birthday.

“On behalf of my colleagues at the British High Commission in Brunei Darussalam, the British Government and the people of the United Kingdom, I offer our heartiest congratulations on the occasion of this birthday and extend to His Majesty our warmest good wishes for the year ahead.”

Air Vice Marshal Mahmud Hussain, High Commissioner of People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam said, “I, on behalf of the Honourable President and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, convey the best wishes and heartiest compliments to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on His Majesty’s 71st birthday.

“The occasion also marks the 50th Year of the Sultan’s rule as the Sovereign of Brunei Darussalam. The event is symbolic of a great historical élan.

“His Majesty bears a name whose life is embodied in the unceasing dedication to a people who have come to look upon him as their ruler with unswerving dedication to their cause, and to whom they have consecrated their unfailing loyalty. Brunei, under the leadership of His Majesty, has become a beacon of peace and prosperity.

“As the torch-bearer for regional cooperation and prosperity, His Majesty epitomes the flair of a global leader with indefatigable commitment, youthful dynamism, incredible intellectualism and tireless passion. His is a story worth preserving in our memory in golden letters.

“I and my countrymen in Brunei, offer from the bottom of our hearts, prayers to Allah the Almighty to grant His Majesty the best of both body and mind in years ahead to serve his people in particular, and the mankind in general in the chosen path.”

Yang Jian, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam said, “On the auspicious occasion of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 71st birthday, I would like to express my warmest congratulations and best wishes to His Majesty.

Lim Hong Huai, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam said, “I am honoured to convey my heartfelt con-gratulations and best wishes from President Dr Tony Tan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on the joyous occasion of His Majesty’s 71st birthday.

2017 marks a significant milestone in our countries’ long-standing relationship with His Majesty’s State Visit to Singapore, where he witnessed the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Currency Interchangeability Agreement.
