HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam paid last respects yesterday to the late Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Ismail ibni Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Muda Haji Hashim, who passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon at the age of 81, at his residence in Kampong Jerudong.
His Majesty and other state dignitaries performed the funeral rites, led by the State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.
Born on January 21, 1936, the late Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Ismail is survived by his wife, Pengiran Hajah Nooralam binti Pengiran Haji Tengah, six children and 21 grandchildren.
He was the former Aide-de-camp (ADC) of Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam, and orders and decorations he received during his lifetime were ‘the Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei, 3rd Class’ (SMB) and the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Medal (POAS).
The late Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Ismail was laid to rest at the Royal Mausoleum in Jalan Kubah Makam Diraja, near the capital.
