A TOTAL of 365 new students will begin pursuing their studies in various programmes in Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) for the academic session 2017/2018.
During the opening ceremony of UNISSA’s orientation week for the new intake, Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad, Acting Rector of UNISSA in a speech said the varsity served not only as an Islamic symbol in the country, but also offers various quality programmes on par with other universities.
He added that it is in line with UNISSA’s vision to be a progressive and dynamic international Islamic university based on Al-Quran and As-Sunnah. It also offers various programmes of study, research and human development using holistic methods and up-to-date technology in accordance with global development.
These are to produce pious, high-spirited and valuable graduates as well as to contribute to the development of community and the country, he said.
The acting rector also urged the new intake on the importance of spiritual aspects and performing their daily obligation as to truly become students of an Islamic university. He advised students to practise positive attitude, implement good values, take advantage of the opportunities and facilities provided by the government and to meet the Vision 2035.
The orientation week which will continue until Saturday, is filled with various activities and programmes including academic briefing and administrating, spiritual programmes, motivational talk, community service, and physical activities.
For this year’s academic session, 297 students will pursue the Bachelor’s Degree while 68 others will undertake the postgraduate studies.
The oath-taking ceremony was led by Muhammad Khairul Muhtadee bin Hamzah from the Faculty of Usuluddin (Tahfiz Qiraat).
