THE Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, was conferred with Singapore’s prestigious military award, the Meritorious Service Medal (Military), by the President of the Republic of Singapore, Tony Tan Keng Yam on Thursday.
The award was presented by Dr Ng Eng Hen, the Singapore Minister for Defence, during an investiture ceremony held at Singapore’s Ministry for Defence.
The award is in recognition of the Commander of the RBAirF’s service and contributions in further enhancing the close relationship between the RBAirF and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), through the frequency of visits, military exercises, professional exchanges and cross-attendance of courses.
As part of the visit, Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar also called on Dr Ng; Lieutenant General Dato Paduka Seri Perry Lim, Chief of Defence Force; and Major General Mervyn Tan Wei Ming, Chief of Air Force.
He also inspected the guard of honour and visited to the RSAF’s 120 Squadron.
The RBAirF Commander and an accompanying delegation are in Singapore for an official visit, from July 26 to 28.
