THE recent Asean Media Tourism Bloggers Hunt 2017 organised by Tourism Malaysia has proven to be an ideal platform for prominent media and bloggers in the region to market and publicise Malaysia and themselves as ‘social influencer’ through the use of social and digital media.
Two Bruneian bloggers, Pengiran Syahreen bin Pengiran Metassan of Kurapak and Abdul Khaliq Roziman of aliqpombunai, who took part in the successful four-day event expressed their gratitude to the organisers for hosting it.
The experience of networking with other media users and bloggers has lifted the duo’s portfolio in the region and made them among the most sought-after from Brunei.
According to Kurapak, the event themed ‘Malaysia On Wheels’ brought them to places of interest through a road trip from Kuala Lumpur north to Ipoh, Perak and back down the Malaysian peninsula to Putrajaya.
“We took advantage of Malaysia’s noteworthy highways and road systems through Kuala Lumpur by visiting iconic landmarks such as Merdeka Square and Batu Caves,” he said.
“We also drove ourselves to Kuala Kangsar and Ipoh in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2017 to experience the lifestyle at a traditional homestay and to visit the newly opened Movie Animation Park Studios.”
From Perak, the participants then headed to Malaysia’s administrative seat Putrajaya and also savoured the local delicacies at Sate Kajang Haji Samuri and Pakeeza Restaurant along the way.
“Through this experience, we can provide our followers some first-hand information on the interesting places we visited via videos and still images to help promote Malaysia through social media on a large scale,” he added.
For the Tourism Hunt, the duo also bagged top prizes including for ‘Best Overall Team’ after they partnered with two Indonesian bloggers and beat 50 other media users and bloggers from 10 Asean member countries.
Apart from being overall champions, Kurapak was also awarded ‘Best Video’ for his one-minute clip shot at the Movie Animation Park Studio in Ipoh.
Aliqpombunai, meanwhile, took home the first prize for ‘Most Creative Photo’ for his picture at the Labu Sayong pottery workshop in Kuala Kangsar, Perak.
Asean Tourism Hunt began in 2015.
This year’s edition was supported by Proton, Pullman Hotel and Resort, Le Meridien Putrajaya, WEIL Hotel, MaTic (Malaysia Tourism Centre), MAPS (Movie Animation Park Studio) MAMEE, ANIMONSTA Studio and the official airline Air Asia.
