SOME 13 members of Brunei’s ‘Haj Advance Party’ from the Department of Haj Management departed the Sultanate yesterday from Brunei International Airport to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to begin preparations for the upcoming Haj for Bruneian pilgrims.
The delegation consists of five Haj administration officers and eight medical officers led by Haji Abdullah bin Haji Mohamad, Acting Director of Haj Management.
On hand to bid farewell to the delegation was the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.
Also present were the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud together with senior officials from the ministry who were joined by close family members.
The early preparations have been made in terms of negotiations with the local authorities to ensure a smooth journey for the advance party as well as the incoming Haj pilgrims from Brunei.
The first and second batch of Bruneian pilgrims who will depart for the holy land on August 10 and 11 will be accompanied by the rest of the Haj administration officers and medical officers.
