IN AN effort to raise awareness on financial independence among primary school students across the nation, Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) has conducted the second roadshow in its National Savings Day 2016 series yesterday at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) Primary School.
The second out of four scheduled roadshows, was aimed at students and teachers from 10 primary schools across the Brunei-Muara District after the first event was kicked off recently in the Temburong District.
The roadshow yesterday saw participating teachers and students getting involved in interactive financial-related games and activities organised by AMBD, the Employees Trust Fund (TAP), Baiduri Bank and Junior Achievement. The fun games and activities were designed to introduce financial management themes and the local currency to the young visitors of the roadshow.
Participating in one of the activities at the roadshow yesterday was the grandson of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Abdul Hafeez bin Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil.
Themed ‘Financially Literate Generation’, the roadshow is hoped to increase awareness of financial indepen-dence that could lead to individuals and households alike to be more financially aware and vigilant in the future, which is in line with the nation’s Vision 2035 towards achieving a dynamic and sustainable economy, as well as a highly-skilled population.
Similar roadshows will be conducted in the Belait District on Monday and Tutong District on Wednesday next week.
The main highlight of the roadshow will be the Financial Fun Fair – featuring numerous fun-filled programmes and interactive activities – which will be held at Jerudong Park The Colonnade on May 22, from 3pm to 9pm.
Other events such as the Financial Planners’ Day organised by the Centre for Islamic Banking, Finance and Management (CIBFM), AMBD’s training arm, and Financial Planners’ Showcase will also be held on a later date.
