OWNERS of adorable cats of all shape and sizes recently gathered in a cat competition at the Kampong Pandan Community Hall, Kuala Belait.
Organised by the Women’s Institute of Brunei Darussalam with support from Nimanja Enterprise, the competition was held in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 71st birthday celebrations.
The competition was a gathering of Brunei cat lovers as well as an event appreciating the efforts that owners have given in taking care of their cats.
A variety of cats participated in the competition, classified into Local, Siamese, Mixed, Persian, and Maine Coon cats. In addition to being judged by their classification, the cats also competed across six categories: Most Beautiful Cat, Largest Cat, Most Hygienic/Healthy Cat, Prettiest Fur, Most Photogenic, and The Best of the Best.
The Best of the Best category – a contest among all the cats in the competition – was won by a Persian cat named Mitchy Bell, whose owner is Safrina binti Musa.
Present as the guest of honour was Surayah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, spouse of the Belait District Officer, who was welcomed by the chairperson of the competition, Hajah Julia binti Chee.
