POLITEKNIK Brunei (PB) students recently embarked on a charity programme, bringing hope and donations to the homes of Ulu Belait residents.
Chairperson Afiqah Teo binti Haji Muhammad Safwan led the mission involving over 50 students and 15 off-road vehicles.
Afiqah said the programme was proposed by the alumni of the fifth PB Student Representative Council (MPP) intake. Additionally, it hopes to instil a sense of care for others and to foster a meaningful bond between students and programme participants.
She explained that the aid hopes to lessen the burden of those living in far off areas, and that the donation programme serves as an avenue for donations to be made.
Most of the recipients are senior citizen, she added.
“Additionally, this programme brings us to the reality that not all are living with the convenience of a city/town. This makes us appreciate and care for both the city and rural living,” she said.
Setting off from Tasek Merimbun at 7am, the group made their way to Sukang Primary School, bringing aid to students and hostel residents. Next, they visited the Sukang Longhouse, Penan Longhouse and Melilas Longhouse, where food items were handed out to residents.
The group travelled for most of the day before convening at Tasek Merimbun to conclude the programme.
