A ‘MAJLIS Doa Selamat and Doa Kesyukuran Istiadat Bersiram’ was held yesterday, for Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah binti Pengiran Haji Bolkiah, marking the birth of Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muthee’ah Raayatul Bolqiah binti Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Duli Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Malik, the granddaughter of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Conducted in full royal tradition at the Surau of the Istana Nurul Iman, the ceremony was performed in the presence of Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, the Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara.
Female guests were seated at the Balai Singgahsana Indera Kenchana of the Istana Nurul Iman.
Prior to the start of the ceremony, four ‘Awang-Awang’ entered the Surau, carrying lighted ‘Dian Empat’ (ceremonial candles), which were placed at the centre of the Surau. This was followed by three ‘Awang-Awang’ carrying ‘Surat Dikir’, ‘Bantal Geguling’ and ‘Pabarahan’, which are all part of the royal regalia.
The ceremony then commenced with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Emran bin Haji Kunchang, followed by the recitation of Dikir Syarafil Anam, which consists of Dikir Assalamualaika, Khairuman, Bisyahrin, Alhamd and Badad, Rawi and Dikir Marhaban.
As the Dikir came to a close, 17 cannon shots were fired at the compound of the Istana Nurul Iman, to mark the ceremony.
The ceremony concluded with a Doa Selamat and Doa Kesyukuran, read by Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah safely delivered Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muthee’ah Raayatul Bolqiah at 1.09pm, on March 2.
The Istiadat Bersiram ceremony is the royal version of the Mandi Berlawat ceremony, which is celebrated by Bruneian Malays to mark the 40-day period after childbirth.
