Local teams take part in Asian Tug-of-War Championship 2017

THE Brunei Darussalam Tug-of-War Association will be sending two teams to the Asian Indoor Tug-of-War Championship 2017 in Singapore. The team will depart for the championship today.

The event will be held tomorrow at the Republic Polytechnic Sports Complex, the first time hosted by Singapore at the Asian level.

The national flag presentation ceremony was held yesterday at Indoor Stadium in Berakas, presented by Pengiran Iskandar bin Pengiran Haji Jadid, Secretary of Brunei Darussalam Tug-of-War Association, to the team.

Haji Hasnani bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Team Manager of Team B expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Brunei Darussalam Tug-of-War Association and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports for the support.

Meanwhile, Pengiran Iskandar said the Brunei Darussalam Tug-of-War Association will be organising an outdoor tug-of-war competition in October.

He said the event is held in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and will be held in the Tutong District.
