A BRUNEI Barista won the first runner-up spot in the APAC Category at the annual The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf ®Barista World Competition and Asia Pacific Barista competition last month in Kuala Lumpur.
Ayu Siti Mauweyah, Assistant Outlet Manager of The Coffee Bean Brunei outlet at the BSP Headquarters in Panaga, was placed first runner-up with her signature drink ‘Affogato Pungent Infusion’ which uses chilli as a main ingredient, also winning the Best Signature Beverage Prize.
Ayu has worked with The Coffee Bean Brunei outlet since 2014 and said her trainer Syukri bin Rosli inspired her to compete internationally and supported her dreams from the start.
The 26-year-old Barista also marked a milestone for Brunei and The Coffee Bean Brunei outlet as the first lady Barista.
Ayu has competed for three straight years in the competition since 2015.
