HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to confer State Honorary Medals on 202 recipients in a ceremony yesterday.
The ceremony, held in conjunction with His Majesty’s 71st birthday celebrations, took place at the Istana Nurul Iman.
Accompanying His Majesty at the ceremony was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.
The event began with the presentation of the Most Honorable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei 3rd Class (SMB) to 35 recipients, followed by the presentation of the Most Eminent Order of Islam Brunei 4th Class (SUB) to 14 recipients and the Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei 4th Class (PSB) to 144 recipients.
Meanwhile, nine recipients comprising officers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs received the Most Eminent Order of Islam Brunei (PUB) 5th Class.
Among the criteria for the medal award are praiseworthy attitude, good behaviour and undivided loyalty towards His Majesty, the nation and its religion.
The recipients of these medals should possess a clean record in all services with His Majesty’s Government and have good performance appraisal for the last three years.
To bless the ceremony, a Doa Selamat was read by Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
Also in attendance were Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, Legislative Council members, deputy ministers, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan and senior government officers.
