The newly elected president in his speech, said, “Each and every one of us has a soft spot hidden in our hearts. As we grow along with society, we all desire to find ways to help the underprivileged or less fortunate, but we have limitations with our own individual strength. The same applies to me.”

Recalling his own experience in joining the Rotary Club, Lam said, “Eleven years ago, a friend invited me for dinner at a hotel. I was excited to accept, only to find out that he actually wanted to introduce me to the Rotary…I was inducted by the late Past District Governor, Ben Cheng, and the rest is history. My thanks to that friend, District Governor Nominee Jeff Yong.”

Regarding upcoming projects, he said, “Many projects with local and overseas communities are already being lined up for this year. Some new projects have been added; however nothing can materialise without the generous support of the public.”

Datuk Lee, meanwhile, applauded the work of the Bandar Seri Begawan Rotary Club, in assisting the people of the rural areas in Sarawak, Malaysia. He also expressed the hope that its membership would continue their efforts to serve and help the underprivileged.
