A CEREMONY for the distribution of ‘Kurma Kurnia Peribadi’ or personal gift of dates from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in conjunction with the month of Ramadhan 1437H/2016, for military officers and personnel under the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and Bolkiah Garrison was held this afternoon at the MinDef Surau in Bolkiah Garrison.
According to a press release, the dates were presented by Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
The ceremony began with a mass Asar prayer and followed by a recitation of verses of the Al-Quran. The RBAF Commander then presented the ‘Kurma Kurnia Peribadi’ to the Joint Force Commander, RBAF, Military Directors, Heads of Departments, officers and representatives of Directorates and departments under the administration of the MinDef.
One hundred and fifty four metric tonnes of ‘Safawi’ dates in approximately 513,333 small boxes will be distributed to all Muslims nationwide for the upcoming holy month of Ramadhan.
