IN THE spirit of Hari Raya Aidiladha celebrations, a Korban ceremony was held at DST Headquarters, Tungku Link, where a total of five buffaloes and four cows were reserved for the sacrificial rite ceremony held earlier in Lampaki, Mulaut and delivered to DST Headquarters for the meat distribution.
Leading the event as the DST Korban Chairman of the Working Committee was Khairul Azni Emha bin Haji Abdul Thani, Manager of Kristal Astro in DST.
Present to hand out the meat for the Korban ceremony was the guest of honour, Dato Seri Paduka Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Finance (Investment), in his capacity as the Chairman of DST and Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Investment) at the Ministry of Finance in his capacity as member of DST Board of Directors. Also present was Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Hussain, Chief Executive Officer of DST, village heads and invited guests from Kampong Menunggol, Kampong Lumapas A and Kampong Lumapas ‘B’, DST management and staff.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Ustaz Fariszal bin Ali followed by the Takbir Hari Raya in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha.
Following the takbir, Korban meat was distributed to the poor and destitute (fakir miskin) invitees: 11 families from Kampong Menunggol, 18 families from Kampong Lumapas, a few families in Kampong Rimba, and eight orphans as well as DST employees.
The Korban ceremony in DST is an annual celebration in conjunction with the religious event and is led by DST staff through volunteerism.
