DPMM FC had to contend with error-strewn decision-making by the match officials in the 4-1 defeat to Home United FC in the Great Eastern-Hyundai S League at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night.

The hosts were wrongfully denied a clear penalty after the linesman failed to spot a handball while defender Hazwan Hamzah was allowed to stay on the pitch for a couple of minutes in the second half with the referee apparently losing count of showing him the yellow card.

The visitors conceded a needless corner after playing into trouble in the area but Home United FC goalkeeper Hassan Sunny illustrated his commanding presence by collecting the ball.

DPMM FC captain Rosmin Kamis, back in his favoured central midfield role, received a rousing applause after blocking a potentially dangerous shot from Stipe Plazibat.

Home United’s pair Stipe Plazibat and Sirina Camara exchanged passes before the latter teed off an advancing Faris Ramli who steered the ball past goalkeeper Mu’izzaddin Ismail.

The Protectors were awarded a penalty after Vincent Salas clipped a Home United player’s leg which Plazibat coolly tucked away.

The hosts pulled one back after Ramazotti outmuscled a visiting defender before making the slightest of touches with Hassan finally beaten.

DPMM FC’s left-back Helmi Zambin managed to stay on his feet after being tackled in the box before passing the ball for Azwan Ali whose shot landed inches wide from the target.

The hosts were denied a clear penalty following a handball after a free kick was swung into the box with the linesman Ronnie Koh at the centre of the controversy.

With the entire DPMM FC coaching team leaving their bench, moments later the visitors launched a counter-attack which led to Faris grabbing his second goal of the night.

It was the creative winger’s 9th goal against DPMM FC in five games this season.

It should have been a routine save but Hassan kept out Adi Said’s free-kick for a corner.

DPMM FC’s creative winger Azwan Ali fired his shot wide after bursting his way into the box.

There was more drama after referee Nathan Chan failed to send off Hazwan Hamzah after the DPMM FC defender was shown a second yellow card.

Hazwan was still allowed a few minutes playing until the linesman reminded the referee.

The Protectors extended their lead after Nizam steered the ball into the near post following good play from Faris.

The Singapore international missed a chance to complete a hat-trick after curling his shot wide.

DPMM FC’s substitute Shahrazen Said skipped past his marker before unleashing a fierce low drive wide.

DPMM FC went down to nine men after defender Vincent Salas was given his marching orders following a reckless challenge.
