THE Minister of Education, Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, recently led a delegation from his ministry on a tour of two primary schools in Cluster 2, for an evaluation of curriculum delivery and the preparation of Year 6 students for the Primary School Assessment (PSR) exams.
According to a press release, the delegation’s first call was at Haji Tarif Primary School, which currently has 100 students and 16 teaching staff.
The minister and his delegation were received by Sarimah binti Haji Lusin, the Headmistress of Haji Tarif Primary School and Haji Metussin bin Haji Jais, the Head of Cluster 2.
During the visit, Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi and the delegates focussed on the instruction of the school’s Year 6 students, particularly in the disciplines of Mathematics and English.
The minister also toured the school’s classes designed for students with special needs, and attended a briefing presented by the headmistress.
From there, the minister’s delegation proceeded to Saba Darat Primary School, which currently has 184 students and 23 teaching staff.
On arrival they were welcomed by Hajah Azrina binti Haji Yusof, the Headmistress of Saba Darat Primary School and the Head of Cluster 2.
The minister was given a tour of the school, where he observed several classes being conducted, including a Year 6A Mathematics lesson, a Year 6B English class and a Pra B English session.
Later, during the question-and-answer session, the minister expressed his satisfaction with the school’s efforts to motivate its students, who will be sitting for their PSR exams in October.
The tour of Saba Darat Primary School ended with a group photo, while the minister interacted with the students.
Also present were Nadia Lee Siew Hoon binti Abdullah, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education); Hajah Anis Faudzulani binti Haji Dzulkiflee, the Acting Director General of Education; and several senior officers from the Ministry of Education.
