A LOCAL man sustained injuries to his leg after a fire broke out in his home at the Lambak Kanan National Housing Scheme yesterday afternoon.
According to a statement from the Fire and Rescue Department, an emergency call was received at 3.36pm.
Three fire engines from the Lambak Kanan Fire Station and one fire engine from the Berakas Fire Station were rushed to the scene.
A total of 13 firefighters led by SSFR Noor Aflan bin Awang Kachi, Commanding Officer of Operation ‘C’ Unit, who were dispatched to the scene of the fire, brought the fire under control within 17 minutes.
The estimated cost of damages and the cause of the fire are under investigation.
The 13 people residing at the affected house are safe.
The Fire and Rescue Department urged the public to not leave any cooking unattended and ensure that electrical installation works are done by certified electrical personnel, as well as avoid overloading electrical extension cords or sockets.
