RADIO Television Brunei (RTB) organised a song writing/composing competition for the ‘Golden Jubilee Symphony’ at the Raya Hall, RTB, in the capital Saturday night.
The competition was org-anised to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the Throne.
It also sought to enliven the celebrative atmosphere, instil love for the monarch and the country while showcasing the local talents in the musical industry
The guest of honour, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs, in his capacity as Co-Chairperson of the Executive Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebration, presented the awards to the winners.
Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Hamdan bin Haji Abu Bakar, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Mohamed Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohamed Yunos, Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) at the Prime Minister’s Office; and Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs were also present.

The champion, Pengiran Haji Sallehuddin bin Pengiran Haji Md Noor, composer of ‘Raja Bertakhta’, received $5,000, certificate of participation and a trophy. The song was performed by Dayangku Hajah Sahanisah binti Pengiran Haji Metali and Dayangku Siti Nurul Fadhilah binti Pengiran Mohd Ali.
In second place was ‘Demi Raja Taat Setia’ by Pengiran Haji Md Shahremi bin Pengiran Haji Md Salleh followed by ‘Raja Berdaulat’ by Pengiran Haji Mohd Khairul Amilin bin Pengiran Haji Yahya.
Meanwhile, the song ‘Menara Harapan’ by Noraffin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, won the best lyric category.
The seven songs – ‘Menara Harapan’ by Noraffin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Dr Khadizah Haji Abdul Momin and Abdul Hafis bin Abdul Salam; ‘Raja Berdaulat’ by Pengiran Haji Mohd Khairul Amilin bin Pengiran Haji Yahya; ‘Raja Peneraju Negara’ by Pengiran Samsul Rezal Malek Faesal bin Pengiran Haji Merali; ‘Teraju Mahkota’ by Zakiuddin Lani; ‘Raja Bertakhta’ by Pengiran Haji Sallehuddin bin Pengiran Haji Md Noor; ‘Daulat Raja Sanjungan Rakyat’ by Haji Mohammad Abu Yazid bin Haji Awang Damit; and ‘Demi Raja Taat Setia’ by Pengiran Haji Md Shahremi bin Pengiran Haji Md Salleh, will be compiled into a special album for the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne.
