BRUNEI Darussalam will be playing Timor Leste in a two-legged tie to slug it out for an elusive spot in the revamped 2018 Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup.

The AFF tournament will see a new concept being introduced with national teams playing home and away matches and abolishing the concept used in previous editions where two cities are being nominated as co-hosts.

Ten teams will still be divided into two groups with the winner between Brunei and Timor Leste completing the group draws for the tournament proper next year.

In accordance to the latest rankings after the 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup, Timor Leste and Brunei will have to face each other in a qualifier in a home and away basis.

Brunei and Timor Leste have been tentatively scheduled to play during the period between September 3-11, which is known to be a FIFA calendar week.

The new format was announced last Saturday following the 12th AFF Council Meeting which was held in Bali.

Australia will not be participating in the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup which will be played from November 8 to December 15.
