IN CONJUNCTION with the 27th Teacher’s Day celebrations, the Ministry of Education (MoE) and Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) organised a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.
Present as the main guests at the ceremony were Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education and Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs.
The ceremony began with a mass Asar prayer led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Hamidon bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Abdul Hamid, who also led the Doa Kesyukuran held for the Teacher’s Day celebrations.
This was followed with a Ratib Al-Attas recitation, led by Mudim Haji Matassim bin Haji Metussin.
Around 1,500 officers and staff, retired educators, and teachers and students from schools, colleges, institutions of higher learning and technical education at the MoE and MoRA attended the ceremony.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Education, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar; Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud; Permanent Secretary at MoRA, Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof; Permanent Secretary at the MoE, Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh; Vice Chancellor of UBD, Datin Dr Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz; Rector of UNISSA, Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal; Vice Chancellor of UTB, Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman; Acting Ra’es of KUPU SB, Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education at the MoE), Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education at the MoE), Nadia Lee Siew Hoon binti Abdullah; Deputy Permanent Secretary at MoRA, Haji Harun bin Haji Junid; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administrative and Financial Affairs), Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah; as well as head directors, directors, senior officers and teachers from the MoE and MoRA.
Yesterday’s event was one of the many religious activities held by the MoE and MoRA in conjunction with the Teacher’s Day 2017 celebrations.
The main event for this year’s celebrations – themed ‘Teacher’s Excellence the Core of an Ummah’s Success’ (Kecemerlangan Guru Teras Kejayaan Ummah) – will be held on September 26 at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
Meanwhile, the Doa Kesyukuran ceremony for the 27th Teacher’s Day celebrations at the primary level will take place in primary schools nationwide on September 28.
