TWENTY students from Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College Central were in Brunei recently as part of the Overseas Cultural and Sports Programme (OCSP), a four- day cultural exchange programme co-organised by ITE College Central and the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE).

The programme is part of an initiative to share knowledge among the students and instructors from both ITE College Central and IBTE, and to promote networking among students from both institutions as well as to strengthen relationships between Brunei and Singapore youths.

It also serves to strengthen ties between IBTE and ITE College Central.

Under the programme, the ITE College Central students visited several places of interest in Brunei related to their courses, including the Sungai Liang Water Plant and IBTE School of Agro Technology in Wasan, among others.

The students, accompanied by their lecturers Cikgu Supiah binti Riduan and Kanagarajah S/O Suppiah, first dropped by the IBTE Jefri Bolkiah Campus (JBC) in Kuala Belait.

Upon arrival, the ITE College Central delegation was welcomed by IBTE Satellite Academic Manager Cikgu Rosmah binti Salman.

In her opening speech, Cikgu Rosmah expressed hope that the ITE College Central delegates’ stay in Brunei “will be fruitful” and that “they will bring back useful experiences to share with their friends and families”.

Cikgu Supiah shared the same sentiments and expressed her gratitude to IBTE for welcoming them to the campus, stating that “we look forward to further collaborating with IBTE in the future”.

Cikgu Rosmah gave the Singaporean delegates a brief presentation at the Brunei Maritime Academy’s (BMA) Conference Room, introducing them to IBTE JBC’s various faculties and courses.

The group also toured JBC, visiting the campus’ various faculties such as the BMA laboratory/workshop, Instrumentation and Control Engineering Laboratory, Mini Plant and Control Room, BSE Workshop and Information, as well as the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Laboratory.

The Singapore delegation also had the chance to learn the country’s rich culture and history, visiting a number of tourist attractions such as Kampong Ayer, Istana Nurul Iman and the Royal Regalia Building.
