A CLEANING campaign was held yesterday at Jalan Derma Wangsa, Mumong, Kuala Belait, seeing members of the Village Consultative Council of Kampong Mumong (MPK Mumong) clearing debris and unwanted items found along the road.
The initiative was organised in the Belait District as part of the nationwide cleaning campaign.
Present at the event to help in the campaign as well as oversee the progress was Haji Mohd Yusof bin Haji Dulamin, the Village Head of Kampong Mumong, as well as eight members from MPK Mumong.
Haji Mohd Yusof said the campaign, organised by MPK Mumong, was to encourage the public to actively keep the surrounding environment clean.
He explained, “Today’s campaign saw the clearing of trees that had uprooted due to strong winds some time ago. This allows Kampong Mumong residents to travel to the area and appreciate the scenery of the village without obstruction.”
Questioned how many members took part in the campaign, he said there were eight from the MPK Mumong, apart from other members joining the campaign in the Kuala Belait Ku Ceria, which was held on the same day.
He hopes to continue organising similar cleaning campaign in the near future, not only in clearing fallen trees, but also to cut overgrown grass along the village roadside, which is in line with the Belait District Office’s initiative of keeping the district clean and green.
