SIX students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) are attending the opening ceremony for Huawei Seeds for the Future of Brunei Darussalam at the Beijing Huawei Countyard in China to obtain firsthand experience with the technology industry.
‘Seeds for the Future’ introduced by Huawei’s global CSR programme aims to develop the local ICT talent; enhance knowledge transfer and promote Brunei Vision 2035.
The students selected for the programme are Siti Nurzahrah Emran who is following Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science, Shamsyuhada binti Rais undertaking Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science and Fatin Nadhirah binti Haji Juma’ata Sonadey following Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Systems Engineering from UBD.
The others include Muhammad Hanif bin Jumat following Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Network and Security, Benjamin Law Jing Fei taking Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electrical and Engineering and Nur Syadza Elyana binti Abdullah Kok of Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electrical and Engineering Students from UTB. Huawei Brunei representative is Kitty Yong.
At the ceremony, the students showcased Brunei’s culture through the dance performance Aduk-aduk.
In Beijing, the students are took part in a four-day Chinese language class in School of Continuing Education of Beijing Language and Culture University to learn Chinese culture and language. The courses included comprehensive Chinese, Chinese painting, calligraphy and others.
Providing a glimpse to the global business operation, cross-cultural work practices, it may help students venture towards the ICT career path in the future.
The students will move to Shenzhen, Huawei headquarters tomorrow to undergo a weeks training in the telecommunication sector.
The two-week study trip is funded by Huawei Technologies (B) Sdn Bhd.
