A SPECIAL Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) forum held in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the Throne continued on Wednesday at the Tutong District Civic Centre Complex.
The forum, organised as one of the events held in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee Celebration, aimed to celebrate His Majesty’s leadership as well as serve an exercise to revisit the foundational MIB concepts which is essential for the preservation of the peace, prosperity and happiness of Brunei as a sovereign and democratic nation.
Present as the guest of honour at the forum was Deputy Minister of Finance Dato Seri Paduka Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah.
The event began with a mass Surah Al-Fatihah recitation followed by the singing of the national anthem, before continuing with a reading of Al-Quran verses and Hadith and their interpretations.
The special MIB forum started on October 2 at the International Convention Centre (ICC) and continued at the Civic Centre Complex in Tutong, and is set to continue on October 9 and 12 at Pusat Insani in Seria in the Belait District and the Rataie Community Hall in the Temburong District respectively.
Among the forum panellists were Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office (Corporate Affairs and Public Administration), Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, who spoke about the government’s efforts in improving peace and solidarity in the nation, prosperity among the people, and international relations best practices.
Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, Acting Raes of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), meanwhile, spoke about MIB in education, and the practice of making Doa as well as its effect on religious, societal and national harmony.
Acting Head of the Special Education Unit at the Ministry of Education, Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor spoke about the education opportunities being provided by the government and prosperity enjoyed by the people.
The forum was chaired by Dr Hajah Rasinah binti Haji Ahim from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).
