DPMM FC ran riot as forwards Adi Said and Rafael Ramazotti bagged a treble each in an emphatic 7-1 win over Garena Young Lions FC in the Great Eastern-Hyundai S League at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night.
It was the Gegar Gegar men’s second successive win on the spin in the league as they look to finish the season strongly.
The win also took them to within two points off seventh-placed Balestier Khalsa and set up an interesting clash against the Tigers in the next home match on October 16.
The visitors fashioned the first opportunity of the game after Faizal Roslan glanced a header wide off a corner.
Barely a minute later, the hosts equalled the chances created as Rafael Ramazotti’s header sailed wide after meeting Daud Gazale’s cross.
Adi Said was unlucky not to get DPMM FC in front after his header hit the upright as the ‘Gegar Gegar’ men seized control of the tie. The forward curled a good free-kick but Young Lions goalkeeper Zharfan Rohaizad was equal to the task with an excellent save.
From the ensuing corner. Ramazotti headed wide a good ball from Hendra Azam.
Gazale, who opened his account for his new club in the last league outing, drove a fierce effort from 25 yards but flew over. Yeo Hai Ngee had a shot from inside the box but his shot went straight to goalkeeper Mu’izzuddin Ismail.
Ramazotti rounded the goalkeeper but his shot was cleared off the line.
But in the next opportunity, the towering Brazilian rose with a back header from a corner to present his side a 1-0 lead.
Rohaizad produced a smart double save to stop Ramazotti from breaching the net again.
Adi Said produced a pinpoint cross which needed no second invitation from Ramazotti who nodded home his second of the game in the 50th minute.
The Bruneian forward was put through on goal and made no mistake to put his side 3-0 up.
Gazale slipped the ball to Adi who laid it for Ramazotti who poked home for his hat-trick.
Gazale struck a rasping drive which deflected past Rohaizad for his second goal this season.
Hendra sent in Adi through and he cooly slotted home past Rohaizad for his second of the game.
Garena Young Lions received a consolation after Armin Maier netted from the rebound home after Mu’izzuddin had kept out Yee Hai Ngee’s free-kick.
But there was still room for one more as Adi Said bagged his hat-trick after steering his header home in the near post.
