HIS Royal Highness Prince (Dr) Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), presided over the launching of 30 publication titles yesterday during the university’s 7th Mahrajan Hafl Al-Takharruj (convocation festival) at the International Convention Centre (ICC).
The latest publications, written by UNISSA lecturers and academic staff, comprised of 25 books (12 in Malay, 10 in Arabic, three in English); four journals and one monograph series on the topic of Al-Shafi’i.
Among the interesting titles were ‘Islam di Borneo Perspektif Ekonomi’; ‘Halal dan Pedidikan’; ‘Muflis Dalam Pandangan Mazhab Al-Shari’i: Teori Dan Praktical Di Brunei Darussalam’; ‘Perjalanan Ke Makkah: Historiografi Haji Brunei Darussalam’; ‘Deposit Withdrawal Behaviour in Islamic Banking’ and ‘The Golden Islamic Heritage of Brunei Darussalam’.
In ‘Perjalanan Ke Makkah: Histografi Haji Brunei Darussalam’, Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, the Rector of UNISSA, examines the history of the Haj pilgrimage in Brunei Darussalam, including its management, ethics and the cultural habits of Bruneians during the journey.
In addition, the book also analyses the characteristics and number of Brunei Haj pilgrims, according to existing written records, as well as current challenges.
In ‘Islam di Borneo Perspecktif Ekonomi, Halal Dan Pendidikan’, explores the development of Islamic education in Borneo Island is explored, in relation to the Islamisation of academic knowledge and the development of pre-school education.
Meanwhile, ‘Muflis Dalam Pandangan Mazhab Al-Shafi’i: Teori Dan Praktikal Di Negara Brunei Darussalam’, by a member of UNISSA’s academic staff, focuses on bankruptcy statistics in Brunei, while defining the issue of insolvency among local communities.
