THE aspirations and ideas of grassroots leaders of the society play a crucial role in supporting the government’s mission towards enhancing the healthcare system in the country.

This was stated by Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Zulkarnain bin Haji Hanafi, Minister of Health on the sidelines of a dialogue session between grassroots leaders in the Tutong District and the Ministry of Health (MoH) which was held at the Main Hall, Tutong Civic Centre Complex yesterday.

“Expectations, thoughts and ideas of mukim penghulus and village heads who are the grassroots leaders in the society are immensely useful in supporting the aspiration of the health ministry to continuously working towards raising health standards in the country,” he said.

The minister said the dialogue provided an opportunity for both sides to recap the efforts that have been implemented since last year and identify issues that are needed to be addressed in order to improve the quality level of services.

“This is in line with the titah His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam delivered during the monarch’s visit to Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital on September 27, 2016, where His Majesty called for continuous work to enhance healthcare services. Among the issues touched by His Majesty included customer friendliness, waiting time and shortage of medicines.”
