The centre is the first UBD campus abroad and also the first Asean university to establish a campus in Vietnam.
The centre aims to become the prime English Language training facility in the Asean region. To date, UBD has sent 13 Brunei educators and two professors to serve at the centre, along with 15 Bruneian students.
UBD and FPT University have been in collaboration since 2012, particularly through student exchange programmes.
From the centre, His Majesty proceeded to visit Simpur Restaurant in Da Nang.
Upon arrival, His Majesty signed on a commemorative plaque to mark the official opening of Simpur Restaurant before being invited to attend a luncheon served by the restaurant.
Simpur Restaurant is an initiative of UBD in catering to the demand for Halal food and beverages in Da Nang, Vietnam. It also serves as an attachment centre for Brunei students. The restaurant currently employs two Bruneian cooks and four students from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education who are undergoing work placement at the restaurant.
Prior to leaving, His Majesty joined the staff and students for a group photo and received a Junjung Ziarah from those present at the event.
