EAST Asia Summit remains an important mechanism for strategic dialogue and cooperation, said His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Delivering a titah at the 12th East Asia Summit, held yesterday at the Philippines International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila, the monarch also underscored the work of the East Asia Summit as significant in addressing the interests and concerns of the region.
In the titah, His Majesty looked forward to the finalisation of the new Manila Plan of Action, which sets out practical ways for member states of the East Asia Summit to work together in finding solutions to common challenges.
The monarch noted that the work in the priority areas of the East Asia Summit complements the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, especially on environmental concerns and health matters. His Majesty urged relevant officials to collectively address these matters, including raising awareness on the issues and enhancing preparedness in facing future challenges.

East Asia heads of state and government to the Summit.
