Charity cycling raises B$7,571 for YASKA

THE Varsity Cycle 2.0 held on August 20 collected B$7,571.00 in donations from participants of the event.

The handover ceremony of donations was recently held at the Oncology Ward, Women and Children Centre of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital.

The cheque was presented by Datin Dr Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD); Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA); Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB); and Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, Acting Ra’es of the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).

The cheque was received by Dr Hajah Norehan binti Haji Johari, Specialist Oncologist and Chairlady of Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA). Also in attendance were officers from UBD, UNISSA, UTB and KUPU SB.

Jointly organised by the four universities, the charity cycling event was held in conjunction with the 71st birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

During the cycling event, more than 400 participated in the 71km cycling expedition which included senior officials, lecturers, staff and students of the universities, as well as members of the public.
