THE Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) Dissemination Working Committee held an MIB Open Day at the Taman Haji Sir Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital yesterday, as part of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the Throne.
The event was jointly organised by the Department of Curriculum Development at the Ministry of Education and the Islamic Studies Department at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The guests of honour at the event were Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa, followed with the singing of the national anthem and a warm-up session.
With the beating of a gong, the Minister of Religious Affairs launched the 3B (Bekarih, Berjarih, Berlurih) Amazing Race Challenge, which featured students from various education institutions under the Islamic Studies Department and the Department of Curriculum Development.
The two ministers then joined the MIB Open Day participants for a brisk walk to the Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas.
An exhibition, bazaar and a quiz session also formed part of the event, which concluded with a prize presentation to the winners of the 3B challenge.
Deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, directors and deputy directors were also present.
