KFC Brunei donated $16,000 to five local charities during a ceremony at the KFC outlet in Giant Rimba yesterday.

Datuk Mohamed Azahari bin Kamil, the Managing Director of QSR Brands along with Merrill Pereyra, the CEO of QSR Brands, presented the mock cheques to the charities.

Datin Hajah Noraini binti Pengiran Dipa Negara Laila Diraja Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin, the Executive Trustee of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, was presented with a cheque for $4,000, while Datin Paduka Hajah Intan binti Haji Md Kassim, the President of the Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM), received $3,000.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Nur Azwan bin Haji Aziz, the President of the National Association for the Hearing-Impaired (OKP); Haji Abdul Alim bin Haji Othman, the Managing Director of Centre for Children with Special Needs (KACA); and Sharina binti Yunus, the President of the Learning Ladders Society, also received donations of $3,000 each.

Datuk Mohamed Azahari said, “The event aims to share the money acquired by KFC to charitable organisations. This is part of the corporate mission of QSR, and we are aware that there are a lot of people who may need our assistance.

“It is our corporate social responsibility to provide contributions, in aid of local charitable organisations. We are committed towards helping the community to grow together with us,” he added.

The ‘KFC Project Penyayang’ is part of KFC Brunei’s SCR initiative to engage and give back to the local community. Various charity homes and organisations have benefited from the project, particularly during the festive seasons of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, and the year-end holidays.
