BRUNEI Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore have further strengthened their cooperation and friendship through the 3rd Joint Training Exchange Programme for senior officers in a programme conducted by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) of Brunei Darussalam, and the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Singapore.
The programme was officiated during an opening ceremony held yesterday at the PMO complex by the guest of honour, Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the MoHA of Brunei Darussalam.
Also present were Mohamed Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohamed Yunos, Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) at the PMO of Brunei Darussalam, and T Raja Kumar, Deputy Secretary (International) at the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Singapore.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MoHA, heads of departments and senior officials from the PMO and the MoHA were also in attendance.
In his welcoming speech, Abdul Mutalib highlighted the continued close relationship and bilateral cooperation between Brunei’s PMO and MoHA with the Republic of Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs which has long existed and grown continuously to further enhance both countries’ capacity in areas of security and safety.
The guest of honour said he looked forward for the participants to have a productive and fruitful meeting with positive deliverables, conclusion and recommendations in pursuing common goals, especially in areas of border control measures, fire-fighting, urban search and rescue management. Meanwhile, in representing the Republic of Singapore, a speech was delivered by T Raja Kumar, who also highlighted Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore’s close relationships, as well as the two countries’ common goals.
Twenty officers from both countries will be taking part in the programme. A delegation of 10 senior officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore, are now in Brunei Darussalam, and will be joined by another 10 senior officers from the PMO and the MoHA of Brunei Darussalam.
The programme will be held in a course of 12 days, which began yesterday until December 8, 2017. The first phase will be held in Brunei Darussalam, while the second phase will be held in Singapore.
During the course of the programme, participants will have the opportunity to visit a number of relevant agencies in both countries to gain a better understanding of the role and function of the agencies concerned, as well as sharing experiences and best practices, especially concerning securing issues and coordination procedures at the national level apart from developing leadership skills.
